Bookings
The room books itself, prices itself, and pays for itself.
Every room in a real, occupied space runs on one system of record — reservations, dynamic pricing, door access, guest WiFi, and a live branded display, all reading the same booking. This is what it looks like running in production, not a demo.
CommonSignal's booking system combines room, desk, and office reservations, demand-based dynamic pricing, automated door and WiFi access, and branded physical displays in one record.
The disconnect
A booking should run the whole visit, not create four more tasks.
2 systems
The booking calendar and the door controller don't know about each other, so someone re-keys access by hand.
0% dynamic
List price is list price, whether the room's empty Tuesday morning or fully booked during a conference.
1 blank screen
The tablet outside the door shows a status light, not an experience — dead time you could be monetizing.
1 front-desk favor
A guest still has to ask someone for the WiFi password, because the booking and the network have never talked to each other.
Branded displays, on any screen
The screen outside the door is real estate. Use it.
Every bookable room has its own display — live status, today's schedule, and one tap to book. Idle screens rotate paid partner ads scoped to a specific room and date range.
A recurring event series can carry its own sponsor logos automatically, matched by the event's name. A live event happening in that room takes the whole screen over — full event branding, real cover image, live countdown, seats remaining, and a QR code straight to registration — the moment the event starts, with no admin action required.
It's a live web page, not proprietary hardware. The same display can run on a lobby TV or hallway monitor, not just a purpose-built tablet. Members can also upload a welcome image for a booking — a logo, agenda, or seating chart — that shows before their meeting and clears automatically after.

Partner ad rotation
Room- and date-scoped placements turn idle display time into useful inventory.
Automatic event takeovers
Live events take over the screen, then the room view returns when they end.
Member welcome screens
A logo, agenda, or seating chart appears before the meeting and clears after.
Any screen in the building
Run the same live web page on a tablet, lobby TV, or hallway monitor.
Dynamic pricing
Dynamic pricing that reacts to your calendar and your market — automatically.
Every eligible room runs against a live pricing-rules engine — same-day pricing, time-of-day pricing, a time-of-day premium, occupancy-triggered pricing, flash sales, and flat block-rate overrides — six rule types, running today.
Rules scope by day of week, time window, date range, or a live occupancy threshold; every booking records exactly which rule fired and what it discounted. Rooms opt in individually.
Market-aware pricing tracks live pricing from LiquidSpace listings in the local market and can hold pricing against that data automatically, room by room, with an auto-generated quarterly market brief.
17 pricing rules running today, across 6 rule types, on real rooms — with 10 rooms actively priced against live local-market data.
Access, tiered and audited
The door already knows who booked the room.
A reservation is the door entitlement — access turns on for the exact reserved window and off after, mapped door-by-door to the room, with a full audit trail on every grant: request, response, and observed state. Grants queue on a retry-with-backoff dispatcher, not fire-and-forget. Credential tiers are configurable for staff, members, cleaners, and other roles. Every door carries its own emergency lockdown state. Fails secure by design.
The automated visit
A guest's whole visit runs on the booking — not a checklist for your staff.
A day pass, trial, or booking with a visitor attached auto-issues a scoped WiFi voucher tied to the same record as the door credential. One grant provisions both door and WiFi. The full flow is automatic: booked; door and WiFi already waiting; tablet shows welcome branding on arrival; access quietly expires.
Door hardware
CommonSignal's access and door features run on UniFi Access hardware. FollowThrough Works, CommonSignal's technical services partner, can scope, procure, and install that hardware for subscribers at a below-market rate.

AI-verified occupancy
Camera-based occupancy sensing runs today — a vision model reads a covered space as quiet, moderate, or busy on a timer, cached so load never multiplies back to the camera hardware. It now acts on that read automatically: a no-show room releases itself, and an occupied-but-unbooked space gets nudged toward getting booked.
Contracts
The agreement follows the room.
Rooms above a configurable tier require a signed usage agreement before the booking is honored, wired to e-signature. Violations are detected and logged automatically, with a reason-logged staff override path.
Voice booking
A phone call can complete the booking.
The AI phone line can book a room, book a tour, sell a day pass, or sign up a new member live on a call, with dropped-call and retry protection so nothing double-books or double-charges.

In production
“The operating system for spaces that keep getting better.”
Running in production, on a real, occupied space.
That space is Granite City Workspaces, a coworking space in Folsom, California. Every number above is live today, at a real, occupied space — not a demo environment. 8 bookable rooms, 21 private offices, and 4 dedicated desks run on this exact system, priced by this exact engine, displayed on this exact hardware, unlocked by this exact door record.
FAQ
Booking questions, answered plainly.
- Does a booking automatically unlock the door?
- Yes — access turns on for the reserved window and off after, from the same record as the booking. Nothing to sync by hand.
- Do guests get WiFi automatically, or does someone have to hand out a password?
- Automatically. A day pass, trial, or booked visitor gets a WiFi voucher scoped to their exact visit window, issued the same moment their door access is.
- Will my members get surprised by a different price at checkout?
- No — pricing rules are visible at the time of booking, before checkout, the same way a hotel or airfare price is shown before you pay. Nothing changes after a booking is confirmed.
- Can members book from their phone?
- Yes, and they can also book by tapping the tablet outside the door, or by talking to the AI phone line.
- What happens on a no-show?
- A no-show room releases itself automatically based on camera-verified occupancy, so it's back on the calendar without a staff call. Occupied-but-unbooked spaces get nudged toward getting booked the same way.
- Does the tablet really change for sponsors and events on its own?
- Yes — it matches on the event's own data (name or location) with no admin step required, and reverts the moment the event ends.
- Do the cameras record or store video?
- No footage is stored or streamed to any screen — occupancy is read from a snapshot, converted to a quiet/moderate/busy read, and the image is discarded.
- What is dynamic pricing for room booking?
- Dynamic pricing automatically adjusts a room's rate based on signals like time of day, day of week, how full the calendar already is, or a limited-time promotion — the same idea hotel and airfare pricing uses, applied to bookable rooms and offices.
- How is this different from a standalone booking tool like Skedda or Robin?
- Those tools manage a calendar. CommonSignal's booking record also drives the door, the guest WiFi, and the physical display outside the room — one system instead of a booking tool plus separate access and signage systems.
- What does the bookings module cost?
- Pricing is quote-based on the number of rooms, desks, and doors you're running — see Pricing or request a demo for a number specific to your space.
- How long does setup take?
- Most spaces are running within a few weeks, depending on door hardware readiness.
- What door hardware and calendars does this work with?
- Built on UniFi Access for door hardware, and syncs with Google Calendar. If a space doesn't already have UniFi Access installed, our partner FollowThrough Works can scope, procure, and install it.
- Is our data secure?
- Camera occupancy reads are discarded immediately, door and WiFi grants are fully audited, and all data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
